Apparently you didn't vote enough?

OMG, this race bashing thing over the recently crowned Singapore Idol is really getting out of hand.

Tak happy kapeeer?

I KNEW immediately when Sezairi won the 3rd SI, it would spark the race issue. I mean, 1st SI, we were all rooting for Taufik to win. 2nd SI being a Malay boy was probably pure coincidence. But for another Malay boy to win and, as compared to the 1st 2 winners, whose vocals are not on par to his competitor ( but that doesn't mean he can't sing well..), is truly a shocker. Even I was expecting Sylvia to win, but apprently you guys didn't vote enough eh?

I've read rude comments in forums like, "The Malays are stupid coz they waste money on someone they dunno and on a crap show coz Malays got nothing better to do" or "Next year lets just move SI to Suria" or "Malays can't study or climb the career ladder, they can only sing".

Here's the thing. Malays are a minority in this country and as some people from the forums put it, we are 'poor'. The non Malays can outdo us and vote for the other gal easily, if they want to. So why didn't you? And Malays being the minority and the underdog, naturally we want our own to win! I'm sorry I come across as racist or anything but it's true (Oh well, you started it 1st! ). If you see other minority groups out there, the smaller they are, they more they'll stick together. And if you say we were wasting money to see one of us win, you're wrong! Even my measly $6 votes could make a difference to this boy's future.

When I was working in a MM organisation, a survey was done and our kids came out tops in sports and arts. Well, you can study and memorize your brains off and then puke back all the answers during exams but to have talent, that's God-given gift! So what if our kids can't study but they can sing? God's fair. What you have, I might not have and vice versa. Just because they are not good in their studies doesn't make them less of a person. It's such a pity their talents are not recognised here in Singapore. For this, I totally blame the gahmen for the stupid education system here.

So If 3 Malay boys can earn a good living thru their talents, I say go for it! You guys have my full support. The rest of you sour grapes can go relek one corner.
