Making of a Home - Finale

I was supposed to post the following entry eons ago but i'm a lazy blogger!...

First & foremost, I would like to thank Allah for blessing us with a generous family, the 'sponsors' for our home (gawd, haha I feel like a celebrity..) and for blessing me with a very smart and handy husband. 3/4 of this house was actually diy-ed by Wan. When he's not working, my sleep-deprived husband was constantly doing something at home.... he did the electrical wiring, re-furbished the kitchen cabinets, installed the stove and oven, hacked, plastered and painted the walls.. all by himself! Damn proud of my man!

Here's a brief schedule of our reno...

15th Feb 09 - got our house keys

March 09 - scout around for contractors. Hubby started hacking the kitchen walls and taking down the kitchen cabinet doors to re-furbish.

8th Apr 09 - Contractor began renovation. Scout around for a floor laminate company.

19th Apr 09 - Shopped for bathroom accessories. Wan started cutting and pasting laminates on cabinet doors at mom's place.

24th Apr 09 - renovation ended. Painting and installing refurbished cabinets

1st May 09 - Tarkett floor laminates were laid

18th May 09 - painted newly plastered kitchen walls and ceiling. Hubby started working on the kitchen door frame.

30th May 09 - This was when the exciting part begins.. shopping and decorating! We started bargain hunting for kitchen appliances and bed.

13th June 09 - official move-in!

June - 20th Sep 09: These 4 months were quite a blur, really. I remembered mostly living in an empty house full of dust and feeling broke all the time :( But somehow we managed to finish by our agreed deadline ie., on eve of hari raya.
Erm, actually we were still drilling stuff in the common bathroom a week after raya :p

ps: If you ask me, I think I can never be done decorating our home.. furniture-shopping is so fun! Other ladies are into make-up & clothes. I lust after furnitures :) And it's a thrill to create this 'expensive-looking' home when in fact, everything was bought on cheap! An interior designer once told me anyone can shop but it takes talent to pull this off!
