I'm SO excited!!
The bathroom supplier just rang to inform that our much awaited ceramic basins are finally here in Singapore. Yay! And they are fixing everything up (basins, water heater, shower etc..) this Thursday. Oh, I'm so relieved! We had waited a month for the stupid basins to arrive. And since the rest of the bathroom accessories are interlinked, everything else was delayed.
Right now, the flooring guys are doing the laminates and skirting. They started work yesterday and promised to be done by today or latest, tomorrow. My fil is also at our hse now, painting those humongous bathroom pipes. Can't wait to see my house this Thursday! And just so happen, I applied leave this Thursday & Friday. Well, nothing to do with the house. I have a huge french macaron order for this Saturday and I've not done a scratch. Yeah, I'm screwed.
Anyway, we are shifting this 13th June! With or without furnitures. hehe.. but most important stuff like bathroom and kitchen would be completed by then.
Last Saturday, we had quite a blast. The flooring people were due to start work on Monday rite(yesterday 25th May), so we had to clear the floor for them. Our dinosaur fridge was sitting in the living room because Wan wasn't done with the kitchen yet. Basically, last Saturday we needed to finish the kitchen by hook or crook and then shift the fridge into the kitchen but it's too freakin heavy to move. We thought, ok this IS it.
So we called everybody up. Actually, MOM called everybody up. I only asked mom and bro to come over and lend us a hand. Mom then called my grandaunt who lives a few blocks away. And my grandaunt is like the central reporting centre for my family. Soon, my cousins received news that we needed help.
There were tons of massive rubbish to clear. My smart alec bro finally did a very smart thing. He ran down to the void deck and borrowed from a bangla the HDB plastic orange net (the one use to cordon off an area) and blocked the area just below our dining room windows. He ran back up (we are on the 2nd floor..), pulled our dining room windows wide open and started shoving and thrashing things down the window!
OMFG
Neighbours peered out of their flats to see what the racket was and saw wood planks, tins, cupboards, cardboards and whatnots flying out of our window! I kept screaming at him to stop, but he was on a mission and basically cleared the house in a matter of minutes. It would have taken Wan and I a lifetime to do so.
After all the drama, Wan & bro were fixing the kitchen ceiling and I was painting the door when suddenly my granduncle appeared out of nowhere! He said he took the bus. We were so surprised coz (1) how the hell does he know which bus to take and where to stop? and (2) he's 72 and shouldn't be moving around much, let alone help us. Same goes with my fil. He's about the same age and insisted on helping. Both Wan and I were deeply honored by their kind gestures.
Come noon, grandaunt called us to pickup our lunch boxes. Mee siam and rice with lemak cili padi. Oh bless her! Soon after, my cousin dropped by to help.
The day turned out to be really festive!
