Nak Pindah?

After deliberating back and forth on whether "should we" or "shouldn't we" and "when should we" or "why shouldn't we", WE finally came to a conclusion that we shall be moving to our new flat.

When? That, we are still deciding.

Looks like I have to shelve my mid-year vacation plans. But if anyone is kind enough to sponsor, (do you hear me Wan!) you know la where I would love to go. Do you realise how ridiculously cheap flight tickets are nowdays?

Ayway, I better concentrate on the house for now. It is in a dire need of a good reno. Here's the list of things needing some work done:

- both kitchen and master bathrooms. These are still in original conditions and the flat was built like what.. in the 1980s?

- overhaul to the entire kitchen. I can't stand those ol' skool cabinets. And the ceiling.. Urgh~

- change flooring & skirting for the whole house.

The contractor quoted us $5k for both bathrooms. Prolly need to fork out $8k for my dream kitchen. Flooring, $3k perhaps? And of course, there's accessories, sofa, lightings, dining set, tv, etc to buy which can easily sets us back say another, $10k? See, it's the small things that adds up. That too, Wan's father helped us paint the walls and ceilings which already saved us $1.5k on painting services. And he had also miraculously managed to hide the disgusting blue cornices with white paint which now makes them look brand new. So thank god, no need to spend on new cornices or false ceilings. Just get new lightings. Our budget, all in, is around $25k. We'll see.

Home loan is definitely NOT an option. I'm not going to owe bank money just to do up our home. Anyway, our deadline is by this year's raya. According to my calculations, we should have enough time and cash. So we are gonna do our reno in stages.

For now, I've come up with design ideas for the house and even penned it down for Wan to see. He seems to like it very much. I'm very excited!
