Cooking Experiment - Part I

My bro went a bit crazy one day and bought lots of McCormick seasonings. Apparently those are for his special low carb cooking but months went by & no cooking was ever accomplished. And yesterday, mom got really mad seeing those packets cluttering her kitchen cabinet and begged me to get rid of it.

So, I was sitting at the kitchen table & picked up one packet that says instant Mushroom Gravy. Just add water to the powdered stuff, mix well & u'll have a nice thick gravy to pour over your lovely steak.

Hmmm, but where will I get halal beef steak to grill? Then as I was staring hard at the packet, something brilliant struck me. Ah huh! I'm going to make Chicken Bake Rice with the Mushroom Gravy!

God knows why, but these days with my increased appetite, I can amazingly whip up delicious, home cooked food in a flash and eat all up within seconds too! Maybe God thinks I'm not large enough.. Anyway, I'll share a couple of recipes with u that I've been experimenting in the next few days. For now, here's the the Chicken Baked Rice.

------------------------------------------------------------

Chop 1 onion & 1 garlic and saute these in a frying pan.
Break 3 eggs into the pan and fry along, ala Nasi Goreng style.
Then goes in the cooked rice ( I used roughly 1 big plate of rice) and mix well. Add some black pepper, oregano, basil leaves & a bit of salt (the mushroom gravy is salty enough, there's no need to add too much..)

Ok, here comes the chicken. You can either use chicken breast or chicken fillet.
Marinate these with a little turmeric powder and salt and deep fry (or bake) till they are half cooked.
Cut up the chicken in slices.

The Mushroom Gravy is the easiest. Just follow the instructions! Empty 1 packet, add 250 ml of boiling water and mix till the gravy turns thick.

Remember the rice? OK, take half of that rice and line it in a caserole dish. Then placed the sliced chicken on top. Followed by the rice again and lastly the chicken.

Pour the mushroom gravy into the dish and lastly, cover the rice & chicken mix with generous amount of mozarella & parmesan cheese. Finally, chuck it into the oven for 20 mins.

Once it's nicely baked, sprinkle a teeny bit of extra virgin olive oil and bacon bits onto the hot piping cheese & voila!

Try it! It's delicious, I guarantee. Otherwise, you can always sue me.. haha
