I know I'm sounding a bit gay. Fussing over a book who's hardcover looks like it's Enid Blyton's. But I swear, each and every one of Mike Gayle's books are so entertaining & humourous.
There was a point in my life where I coudn't stop reading romance novels, one after another, and soon I began to realise all of them had similiar openings. Girl woke up in bed or in somebody else's bed with the worst hangover, to find a strange men lying next to her and she had no idea how he got there or why he was there. It's the same blardy sleazy story everytime and I'm kinda sick of it! So one fine day, I picked up this book from the library, My Legendary Girlfriend and it has a very catchy cover which says, "A hilarious novel for anyone who has ever dumped, been dumped or lived in a dump" and ever since then, I'm totally hooked to this author, Mike Gayle. It was interesting & refreshing for once to be reading a book on relationships from a man's point of view. It wasn't sex, sex & sex all the way. He may not be a nobel prize winner in literature like Orhan Pamuk (shit, I can't understand a single thing Orhan Panuk writes..) but his stories are so funny & enjoyable, I sometimes laugh out loud.
If you love romance novels, I truly recommend Mike Gayle's. The only problem I had with his novels is, I couldn't put the books away and regretably finish reading in one day.
