On Life

I was watching Oprah's interview with Gwyneth Paltrow over on Star Movies and Paltrow was describing to Oprah what her good friend Madonna is like..

"She was very wise about life's bigger picture and that when obstacles come up in our life, it's for a very specific reason. They're there to teach us something that we haven't learned yet,"

And at that very instant I started reflecting back on my own life. I don't have much to talk about, really. I'm only 26. But the past two years especially have taught me a lot about life and made me a much wiser person. I think.

I've learnt what I'm capable of and what I'm not. I've learnt to be true to myself and not be hypocritical just to be politically correct. I've learnt to be thankful and appreciative. I've learnt that God works in the most mysterious ways and is/will always be my side.

All my life, I turn to God whenever I wish for something. Sometimes my wish gets granted, sometimes they don't. And if they don't, then I would pray harder. I'm persistent like that. And Allah is kind. He did eventually granted me my wishes. But along the way, I took a hard fall and then I understood why He didn't grant it in the 1st place.

But life is all about making choices. I could give up and leave it to fate or fight and move on. Fate is a tricky business. I can never understand some parts of it. I believe as human beings, God gave us brains so that we can use our own intelligence and make decisions. While birth, marriage and death are pre-destined, I don't believe that our entire lives are tuned as such. I dunno. It's all God's secrets, I guess.

Anyway, for now I'm just taking life a step at a time. I think I'm doing pretty well at this stage of my life (Alhamdulillah) and hopefully I get to live to the fullest. Just like Benjamin Button. Wan and I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last Friday night and I absolutely loved it! The movie depicts how very, very short life is . Scary.. It was a 3 hrs movie but it was worth every seconds holding back my pee. I'll give it 10/10!

The movie ended around 10.30pm. We drove downtown in search for late dinner. We parked at Royal Scotts Hotel thinking that Carousel still serves supper but apparently not anymore. So we crossed over to Far East Plaza and discovered that Pastamania opened till 3am much to our surprise! In case, news hasn't reach you yet, Pastamania is now halal! Fantastic isn't it?!

I thought I had to wait a month after Pastamania has gone halal, just like CoffeeBean, before I could dine in there. Why? Coz the ENTIRE Muslim community in S'pore were hounding every CoffeeBean stores when they went halal! It was jammed pack! So imagine our excitement when we found a quiet Pastamania tucked in a corner of Orchard Road on a Friday nite! And the food, ouhh, I loved the pizzas! Thin crust with lotsa cheese that you can pull, and pull and pull. Hey, I enjoy the pulling part most when it comes to eating pizzas! The night ended so perfectly when my husband asked the waitress to bring out our Chocolate MOUSE dessert! Haha.. It's Chocolate MOUSSE la uncle!
