One thing that I'm not, is being absent-minded. Misplaced things, yes. I have misplaced things before but I was able to trace back my steps. But to totally lose something, that's new.
So can u imagine the horror when I found out my i/c vanished into the thin air just a day before my wedding?! I don't normally take out my i/c from my wallet unless a) I'm at the doctor's or b) to borrow books from the national library. Rang ROM and they explained the right thing to do was to file a police report and show it to the kadi during nikah. So I did. Went to Paya Lebar police station with my hands and feet full of fresh dark henna stains. Even the policeman knew. That smart fella told his partner in Mandarin that this gerl's about to get married and stupidly lost her i/c. Ha-nor, I also can understand..
After 2 months of searching my i/c in vain and being identity-less, I finally admitted that maybe I'm just getting old and losing things is now another talent I should include in my resume. Well, that was until an envelope came in the mail this morning and magically, my i/c was in it! The envelope had a return address, which was the Samsung shop I bought my new handphone from. A week before the wedding.
2 months? 2 months??!! Why don't you just keep it and frame it in your shop?!
But then again, it saves me 100 bucks and a trip to ICA.
NOW, do I go back to the police station and retract my initial statement or should I make another police report to report that my mom lost the previous police report?
