Oh boy, am I happy or am I happy. Guess wat. It’s a Sunday afternoon, I’m ALONE at home while the rest have gone out beraya (coz my left eye’s swollen. A blessing in disguise indeed). I’m in my t-shirt and shorts, lying in bed, with air-con full blast on and watching dvds back to back with a glass of ice tea by the bedside… ahhhh, heaven. Finally, some peace and quiet.
Hari Raya not my forte la. Not when you have tons of makcik-makciks with sharp laser tongues whom u dread meeting coz they will mengumpat sebakul behind your back after they’ve digged info from u and u’ll feel reluctant asking for forgiveness (kes terpaksa) coz u dun really want to, when all the time u think, they should seek for your forgiveness instead.
Not when your money automatically starts flying out of your wallet coz you’re already working, irregardless of age. (How unfair, my cousin, a GUY, was still in uni at age 24 and just a few months short of getting married and STILL dapat duit raya)
Not when u’re NOT much of a talker. It’s really awkward when your guests just stare back at you and all you can say, “err, jemput makan cik..”
Not when your mom successfully psychoed you into cooking ketupat and after you spent the whole day of your last ramadhan weaving 60 ketupats in the kitchen, and the only compliment u get.. "Is that it??”
Not when your mom surprisingly drag you to Geylang Serai at 2 am on hari raya nite (I distinctively remembered she said she HATED bazaars!!) after you spent the whole day since morning cooking and cleaning the house.
Not when your mom, in the spirit of hari raya, happily "springcleans" your favourite, comfortable-and-full-of-holes office shoes down the rubbish chute .
Not when mom says..
.. "I want to cook briyani this weekend"
ME: YOU or I'M cooking briyani this weekend?
MOM: *GRIN*
ME: Sigh~
Actually, I dun mind the last one. I enjoy cooking. But I enjoy eating too (coz it's nice mah! :p) There goes my diet plans.
But then again, if you read this entry carefully, you’ll discover that Hari Raya may not be the problem. Staying at home too long wif mom is.
Gawd, I’m turning into Dr Christina freaking Yang

Almost everyone came to my house on the first day of Raya, so no more headaches! I just can't stand big groups of children, they eat up my soul.
Surprisingly this year, a lot of visitors ley. Every weekened I had to cook and even b4 visitors came, I'd be soooo tired, i fell asleep..and by time i woke up, it's nite. i dun even know who came and ate my food! Unfortunately, i'm expecting more guests up till 18th Nov :(
