I saw sthg very interesting on Kids Central just now. Tot wanna share wif u ppl.

There's dis show (dunno wats e title) where they introduced a christian gerl into e life of a muslim gerl in New Jersey. The gerls were ard 15 yrs old. I guess this show was featured in e light of e Sep 11 attack. So the christian gerl, Jeri (can't quite remem her name actually..)get to spend 2 days wif this muslim gerl, Mariam. Jeri had to wear e jilbab & hejab while she was @ Mariam's Islamic sch. She was told dat e dressing was to prevent attention to physical appearance so dat when u talk, u focus on e face & intellectual being of a woman. She also discovered a few surprises like gerls r not allowed to mix wif boys or haf a bf. And she wasn't allowed to eat or drink as her visit was during Ramadhan. Mariam even taught her to take e wudhuk (cleansing) & they prayed together wif e rest of e students in e sch's basketball hall.

Jeri, like any other ppl in US, had this perception gathered thru e media dat Muslim = Arabs = Terrorist. Which then Mariam's dad explained dat firstly, not all arabs r muslims & in fact arabs make up only a minority of e islamic population in e world. And secondly, islam doesn't condone any terrorist acts. In fact Allah says " It is not impt wat u do to me, but wat u do to e nx person beside u " Jeri was surprised to discover tt muslim gerls actually haf access to e internet & enjoy life like others do. She was a bit apprehensive when they had to go e mall together, for fear dat ppl hurl insulting remarks or stare at em. And she was worried whether they actually haf to stop in e middle of e mall & pray whyen it's prayer time. But, mariam's parents brought along dis huge canvas & they did their Asar in a empty room after getting permission.
